Make sure the strips are vertical before cutting.

2. Arrange the triangles (as shown) to make block A. When you sew the pieces together, don’t forget to clip the corners and press the seams open as described in Quilt As-You-Go Assembly Techniques.

TIP • For this particular project, it is very important to clip the corners at a long angle (as shown). This will help prevent bulky seams at the intersections when you assemble the blocks later.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to make 5 of block A.

BLOCK B

1. Place 2 strippy squares on the cutting mat with the strips in a horizontal position. On each, cut a diagonal line from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. This will yield 4 triangles.
